Cyclades is one of the most famous regions of Greece consisting of many islands ready to welcome many visitors every year.Santorini is considered by many as the number one island destination amongst the Cycladic islands. The geographical position of Santorini plays an important role in Its’ popularity compared to other summer destinations. It is very famous for the breathtaking view of the “caldera” and the volcano dominating in the middle of the complex.The white color is dominant as well as the blue in almost every building of the island. The unique architecture style with the round tops and the multilevel surfaces around buildings create an unusual and spectacular view.The history of the island is very rich and the prehistoric settlement in Akrotiri village will satisfy even the most demanding of tourists. Anyway, the volcano is by itself the main tourist attraction.The island is not famous for the golden sand beaches due to the fact that the geomorphology of the ground is closely related to the volcanic activity that took place during the past centuries. Nevertheless, there are many of them even with different color (black, red, white), all very well-organized, that provide the visitors with quite a few options during their stay. Furthermore, traveling around Santorini is easy as there are many car rentals that can provide a car for hire unless you don’t drive and choose to use the local buses and taxis.Accommodation is something you don’t need to worry about in this island. Large number of options for different budgets and needs. You want room with a volcano view, private balcony? You have it. Or a big hotel complex with big swimming pool, gym and tennis court? You have it. Or you just want a nice economical clean room? Again you have it.Many hotels and rooms to choose from, even a public camping is available. There is no need to mention anything about the food except maybe three words: ”moussaka” and ”Greek salad”.

Last but not least is the nightlife. There is an extremely large number of bars, clubs and cafeterias as well as restaurants and fast food stores for any taste and budget in every village of the island open until very late at night. Some of them operate 24 hours a day.So, what more can anyone ask? In Santorini you have great – in fact one of the best in the world- view, nice beaches to enjoy the sun and the sea of the Aegean, large number of historical data for the volcano and the culture of the island, and rich nightlife for all types of tourists.In closing, many people argue that one of the places that someone has to visit before they leave this world is Santorini. My advise to you all out there is to visit Thira (another name) and I am sure you won’t regret it.Personally, I think that I am very lucky to have witnessed this view and lived such an amazing experience, end of discussion.
